Where are the real men?

Hmmmm, I wonder if anyone has the answer ….

That guy Grouchyface seems like a really smart cookie!

But seriously … it does seem that hetero men are only allowed to be “good guys” if they are stupid (Ryan Gosling in Barbie), or if they are in the film primarily to support their female co-stars (too many to mention).

Yeah, I think we should all just forget about Woke 1.0. It was just a bit of harmless overreach. Like the Covid lockdowns and millions of illegal immigrants and abolishing the police and ICE. Just little things like that.

Let’s join A.O.C. and laugh it off like a bit of craziness that we’ve already moved past.

My theory about this so-called lack of interest in movie-star skin: If you like to see sex and nudity — especially if you are into some kind of kink — everything you desire is already on the Internet.

For most of Hollywood history, people (especially men) enjoyed seeing their movie stars naked. When Julie Andrews bared her breasts on the silver screen in 1981’s S.O.B., it was a big deal.

Several years ago, “America’s sweetheart,” Jennifer Lawrence, got totally naked in a movie called No Hard Feelings. America yawned.

Nobody cares anymore because, Internet.

“Scattershooting while wondering whatever happened to …”

When I lived in Dallas during the 1980s-’90s, there was a crusty sportswriter named Blackie Sherrod who would begin a weekly column with the above intro. This was a reference to some figure from politics or sports or movies or whatever, who had seemed to go missing from the public eye.

I wondered whatever happened to Blackie Sherrod, so I searched and learned that he died ten years ago. Hopefully, he wouldn’t mind my appropriating his signature line — if only for this week.

Joseph McCarthy’s Red Scare

I watched the video pictured above and was reminded how time does funny things to public reputations. Reputations like that of Richard Nixon, who by comparison to today’s politicians seems positively tame. Or people like Joseph McCarthy, who for decades was Hollywood’s public enemy number one, but whose anti-communist views don’t seem so outrageous today.

Hollywood didn’t like McCarthy for blacklisting creatives with alleged “red” connections. Guess who does the blacklisting (of conservatives) today? Yup. Hollywood.

Katherine Heigl

Or more specifically, Katherine Heigl’s ass

I haven’t seen Heigl in anything in years. Maybe I wasn’t searching enough. So I googled her.

I didn’t think she’d done any nude scenes. I was wrong. Her butt has appeared in numerous movies, including the one shown above, and in the scenes below (click images for a larger view):
